MediSend International Sends Humanitarian Aid to Angola as part of ExxonMobil's Africa Health Initiative

Ten forty foot containers filled with medical supplies and equipment reached hospitals and clinics in Angola in 2007.

(PRWEB) January 16, 2008 -- MediSend International shipped ten 40 foot containers of medical aid holding various categories of medical specialization including obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedic and biomedical equipment to Angola in 2007. The shipments were made possible by a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation as part of ExxonMobil's Africa Health Initiative.

"The ExxonMobil Foundation is proud to partner with MediSend International to help provide medical equipment and supplies desperately needed by the people of Angola," said Gerald McElvy, President of the ExxonMobil Foundation, adding, "ExxonMobil is committed to improving healthcare throughout Africa."

The ten containers were distributed to the Luanda Pediatric Hospital, the Lobito Maternity Hospital, as well as to 18 public health facilities in the provinces of Lubango, Huila, Cunene, Soyo, Namibe, Benguela and Huambo in partnership with Africare and Samaritan's Purse. Esso Angola volunteers working in Africa helped unload the 40 foot containers.

"The ExxonMobil Foundation has enabled clinics and hospitals in Angola to receive a consistent flow of humanitarian aid. MediSend is very proud to be a part of helping to improve the healthcare systems in Angola through these regular shipments of medical supplies and equipment," said Nick Hallack, President and CEO of MediSend International.
