New Miami Beach Mayor wants community involvement

After eight years as a City of Miami Beach Commissioner Matti Herrera Bower was sworn in as Mayor on Wednesday November 21st, 2007.

Mayor Bower begins Miami Beach mayoral term and the New Year with priorities focused on the needs and initiatives of the residents.

"This is the first year of the residents of Miami Beach. The voice of the residents of Miami Beach will be heard," proclaimed Bower.

Mayor Matti Herrera Bower says that the first meeting of the Miami Beach Commission will take place Wednesday January 16th, 2008 and invites all residents who have an interest to attend. "I want for all the residents to be involved with the decision making process affecting their community. It is the only way that the voice of the people will be heard and this is the most important factor in good government."

Matti Herrera Bower was chosen Tuesday November 20th, 2007 at a run-off election by a commanding 54 percent popular vote to her opponent's 46 percent.
