Rayne Water Conditioning and one of Rayne's independent dealers, Kern's Water Treatment, has teamed with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" to provide the Woodhouse family with the highest-quality water softener and reverse osmosis drinking water systems for 10-year-old Kayla Woodhouse's safety.

Kayla's rare condition limits her ability to feel pain as well as regulate her body temperature. Kayla must stay indoors most of the time where the temperature is controlled at 62 degrees or cooler, and Kayla's parents must also be very cautious of the quality of water used for both drinking and bathing.

The top-of-the-line water softener and drinking water systems donated by Rayne Water Conditioning, and installed and serviced by Kern's Water Treatment, will ensure properly-regulated water softness and filtration for safe water quality. Because of Kayla's extremely sensitive skin, the family was continually purchasing bottled drinking water. Bathing was also difficult because hard or unfiltered water could easily produce painful sores over Kayla's skin. Now the family has the convenience and peace-of-mind knowing that Rayne's water systems provide the safe drinking and conditioned water Kayla needs.
Stepping in to help this amazing family, Rayne Water Conditioning, its local dealer Kern's Water Treatment, the 'Extreme Makeover' crew, and more than a thousand local volunteers, worked all around the clock for an entire week to build Kayla and her family a new home near Fountain, CO. Medical bills forced the sale of the family's Colorado Springs home last year.

"On behalf on Rayne, we are thrilled to participate with Kern's in equipping the Woodhouse's home with several of Rayne's best water treatment systems," explains H. Martin Jessen, Vice President of Rayne Water Corporation. Mr. Jessen continues, "We know that our Reverse Osmosis and Water Softening Systems will make a dramatic difference in the lives of the entire family. We are proud that 'Extreme Makeover' selected our quality Rayne products for the Woodhouse home, and are honored for the opportunity to make this contribution to such a deserving family."

As an authorized Rayne dealer, Kern's owner, Gary Shrader, and his team were elated with the opportunity to install and service the top-of-the-line Rayne systems in the Woodhouse's home.
"This has truly been a remarkable experience. We are honored to have played a part in making the Woodhouse's new home a better place for them," states Shrader.

At the unveiling of the Woodhouse's new home, a black limousine pulled up and family got out. Parents Kim and Jeremy, along with Kayla and her brother Josh, couldn't help by jump up and down with excitement. Although the family's new home was built during a wintery cold week in October, the shivers felt by the family were those of extreme gratitude, joy and even disbelief once host Ty Pennington and the crowd chanted "Move that bus!" The home that was unveiled was a nothing less than a dream come true.

"There was an overwhelming feeling in the air," notes Shrader. "A feeling so good, for such an amazing family. Being part of this event is something we will never forget."

Aside from the quality Rayne water systems installed in the home, the family's new home boasts a bowling alley, ice cream parlor, and a drive-in styled home theater room. Kayla was also surprised with a wall-size aquarium in her bedroom. The family also received a 2009 Ford Flex car.

The episode featuring Kern's Water Treatment aired January 13, 2008.
