Book rejects man's counsel in favor of fulfilling God's decrees

A challenge is set before us to live in the world but not for the world. The church in many cases has sold out the truth or quenched it for the sake of popularity and wealth. Many ignore God's command to love your neighbor and show benevolence to the needy, especially the needs of fellow followers of Christ Jesus; instead, they create their own standard of living. Kevin D. Darland's It Is Written (paperback, 978-1-60477-477-1) is an exhortation to fulfill God's decrees and not man's counsel. It entails the fall of man at the beginning of time and God's remedy to renew man's state by His electing grace. It encourages us to love our brothers, because this is the fruit and effect of living a regenerated life centered on God's command, and to love Christ and His children is the evidence we are His elect.

Says Darland, "Many in today's church are neglecting the truths of God in order to gain prestige and growth in their assembly. So this is an exhortation to the church body to stand fast to God's ways and decrees and not manmade ones. I have observed in many church circles that following the ways of God for a holy walk are being deleted and man is inserting his own ways and thoughts into his religion. The Lord has brought me through many a dark valley and through His school, as He has taught me His Word these many years and is still teaching me as I walk with Him daily."

Formerly caught up in the ways of the world, Darland was taught by God's providence to have a single heart and mind toward His Word and way. "He was the truth and to acknowledge Him in all my ways," the author says. In It Is Written, he attempts to teach readers how to successfully distinguish between error and truth, and he hopes believers will hold fast to the truth in God's Word, no matter what the cost.
