During the entire year of 2008 Daisy & Spot, a retailer of fabulous dog and cat collars will be raising money for Breast Cancer research through their Paws for a Cure promotion. "We decided to do this because we believe in the cause, its something that can happen to any woman at anytime," said Ann Griffin, owner of the collar shop.
According to the National Cancer Institute more than 192,000 American women learn they have breast cancer each year. With this disease touching the lives of so many people its not surprising that businesses are jumping at the chance to donate. "Knowing someone that has been effected or being that someone yourself makes it easy to want to support the foundations who keep searching for a cure," Griffin said.
While Americans are passionate about supporting worthy causes they are also passionate about their pets. There are over 68 million dogs and 73 million cats in the United States, the majority of them being viewed as part of the family. Tying in a donation with stylish pet items is something Ann is excited about. "People love their pets and they want to help find a cure, I think putting the two together is a fun way for pet owners to contribute."
20% of the proceeds from certain pink dog and cat collars will be added to the Paws For A Cure fund at Daisy & Spot. Visitors to the website can track the progress via a web page that will be updated with the sale of each collar.
