Printers Bindery Boosts Capacity By Adding Perfect Binder

Wohlenberg 6000 Binder purchased from Colter & Peterson.

Paterson, NJ (PRWEB) January 18, 2008 -- Printers Bindery, a commercial trade bindery in Carlstadt, NJ, has purchased a Wohlenberg City 6000 perfect binder from Colter & Peterson, North America's only distributor for the complete line of Wohlenberg perfect binders.

Printers Bindery operates three shifts in its 50,000 square-foot production facility, specializing in finishing work for financial printers. According to Printers Bindery Systems Manager Ed Pordy, the company selected the Wohlenberg City 6000 as its first major purchase due to its special features.

"The Wohlenberg City 6000 has a fourth knife which allows for a single pass to do flush, perfect-bound books," said Pordy. The perfect binder's ability to discard a bad book also weighed heavily for Printers Bindery during the decision making process. "The machine tells us whether a book is missing a page," said Pordy. "It weighs the individual book after it's bound and will automatically reject a book and take it out of the binding line. A lot of our clients demand that kind of quality and oversight that we have to provide to them."

Printers Bindery also chose to equip their Wohlenberg City 6000 with PUR glue, which is the strongest and most durable binding adhesive available.

"We like the set up for the PUR adhesive and the way it applies; there's less waste on the glue for us than with other systems," said Pordy. "It means we can provide another source of PUR binding which is a growing adhesive binding application that a lot of people prefer because it adds more strength to the book."

Colter & Peterson will install the Wohlenberg City 6000 perfect binder that's expected to be operating by mid-December.
