No thicker than Scotch tape and about the size of a thumbnail, this tiny patch delivers aromas directly to the mood centers of the brain.

A tiny aroma patch developed to boost the libido made a big splash on America’s favorite talk show leaving the audience wowed.

The hi-tech patch called Scentuelle (, was one of three products tested on the ‘Human Lab’ segment of the top-rated, Rachael Ray Show ( The patch is the first in a new family of aromatherapy products that use highly complex scent structures that are designed and engineered in a laboratory. These 'smart scents' are then infused in a small, transparent patch which delivers the mood enhancing ‘scent message’ directly to the brain using the sense of smell.

Scentuelle was designed to enhance the libido by activating the brain’s smell receptors to respond in a specific way, much like the smell of coffee produces an energizing effect. One of the testers, a 49 year old real estate agent, called it her ‘happy patch.’ The audience seemed to agree.

Ray said the show, which focused on the growing problem of low libido in women, was "the raciest she's ever done". She was joined in the studio with sex expert Dr. Hilda Hutcherson as the feature guest.

The company behind the patch, The Orion Group Ltd, is a world leader in using the sense of smell to enhance moods and influence behavior. The design of the patch insures that the full strength of the aroma formula is delivered with each sniff and not dispersed into the environment.

“Our patch technology is very sophisticated,” says company CEO and President Luke Vorstermans. “It’s no thicker than Scotch tape and about the size of a thumbnail. No one else is using this technology to deliver aromas directly to the mood centers of the brain. It is designed to be absolutely safe and without side effects.”

Each patch is impregnated with the company’s proprietary scent formula and worn on the inside of the wrist where it is discreet and easily accessible. A special release liner allows the scent to permeate through when the user inhales. A new patch is applied daily.

Linda Ryan, Brand Manager for Scentuelle, says the response to the innovative patch on the show was overwhelming.

“The producers of the Rachael Ray show heard about our patch technology and asked us to participate,” said Ryan. “While low libido was the topic of the show, we’re receiving calls from all over asking about the patch and how it works. The spotlight was really on this little patch!”

The company partnered with one of the world’s foremost aroma scientists, Dr. George Dodd ( to design and engineer a line of mood-enhancing formulas, including weight loss, relaxation and smoking cessation that will use the patch technology. The product line, called Scent Therapy, will become available in the US and Europe in April 2008.

“It’s aromatherapy on steroids,” says Vorstermans. “These patches are a new generation of mood management tools, the perfect fusion of science and nature. They provide users with a healthy, non invasive approach to managing the way they feel.”
