1EZphone today announced it is testing a beta release of it's Webphone. A browser softphone that can be used by any internet connected flash enabled device regardless of operating system or bandwidth fixed or mobile devices can receive incoming calls or make outgoing calls worldwide including India.
The Webphone has the same features as any other softphone, but there is no software downloaded to the device and no VoIP ( Sip or H323 ) send to the device from the PBX, PSTN or VoIP provider.
The inspiration for Webphone came from VoIP users complaining about the poor audio quality on low bandwidth and mobile connections. VoIP being blocked or illegal in some countries around the world and a lack of VoIP for mobile devices due to downloading software and VoIP being blocked by wireless providers to stop people form receiving or making calls over their data channel.
The idea that there is a better way than downloading software on to every device and bringing the VoIP to every user could be accomplished by bringing the user to the VoIP avoiding the need install any software on the device or for high bandwidth, QoS or low latency would not only improve the audio quality, improve security but also provide every user with presence on any number of multiple devices at the same time.
Invited users have begin testing the Webphone in the USA, India and China Unlike other VoIP services, Webphone is built on the idea that users should never have download software or stream VoIP to their Computer or Mobile device.
Key features of the 1EZPhone Webphone interface include:
-- Incoming calls: Webphone enables people to receive incoming calls including caller ID from any SIP or H.323 PBX or VoIP provider to any internet connected flash enabled device in any country in the world legally.
-- Outgoing calls: Webphone enables people enter a number using a text window or dialer to establish outgoing incoming calls from SIP or H.323 PBX or VoIP provider to any internet connected flash enabled device in any country in the world legally.
-- Presence: People can be logged into any PBX or VoIP provider from multiple devices at the same time to answer calls from any of them without the need for call bridging or device cloning features of the PBX
At the completion of beta testing 1EZphone plans to launch a Free fixed and mobile Internet Virtual Unified Communications service and PSTN to fixed and mobile fee based service in the USA, India and China.
