Each year, Inc. Magazine publishes its Annual Inc. 500 List of America's fastest growing private companies in their September issue. This year's issue has just hit the news stands and Texas businesses faired very well.

This year, 40 Texas companies made the Inc. 500 List;

The list includes 14 from Dallas, 12 from Austin, 4 from Houston and one from Fort Worth Texas, Sun Water Systems, Inc.

Fort Worth's sole honoree, Sun Water Systems, was founded in 1998 by its current President/CEO, local businessman Charles Strand. Sun Water manufactures and markets the popular Aquasana Home Water Filters and Shower Filters. Recent trends in the health and beauty industries towards pure water for drinking and showering have driven the growth of the company's products.

"We started the company in my home here in Fort Worth 10 years ago and for more than a year, I was the only employee. We began building a product line and a management team and like most companies struggled for our first 3-4 years. We now have about 40 employees, 1500 dealers and have just completed construction of our new 50,000 sq. ft. corporate headquarters. We went from doing just under $1M in sales for all of 2003 to now over $1M a month in 2007… life is good! For me it's like living the American dream and proof that hard work pays off. I give most of the credit to my team; Houston Tomasz (VP), Brian Luenser (CFO), Wes Russel (COO) and my family for hanging in with me through the rough times." Charles Strand/ CEO

Sun Water manufactures and distributes high end home water purification products through a network of retailers. Their Aquasana, Beauty Water and Rhino brands are sold via the Internet and through health and beauty retailers such as Sephora, Victoria Secrets catalog, Bath & Body Works, QVC and over 500 health food stores.

The company has sustained a 35% to 50% annual growth rate for the last 5 years and forecasts that growth will stay strong for years to come. "The home water filtration industry as a whole is experiencing very healthy growth as consumers realize that it's a much more logical solution to tap water than bottled water…". Houston Tomasz/ VP
