New York, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2008
Gotham Sports Media LLC, had added "Live from Mickey Mantle's," a weekly show that will cover New York sports, to its lineup of radio shows. Starting with its debut broadcast, February 1, 6:00 pm Eastern Time, the two-hour show, which will broadcast from the historic establishment on Central Park South, will feature guests from throughout the world of New York sports.
"2008 is the 20th anniversary of Mickey Mantle's, and we're delighted to serve as home base for this entertaining radio program, as we were there for a daily remote when WFAN started," said Marty Appel, spokesperson for the restaurant. "Mark Healey is a coming star in New York sports media and this breakthrough show will bring great attention to both his magazine and to our landmark dining facility."
"Live from Mickey Mantle's" will be heard on BlogTalkRadio.com, the most popular web-based platform for independent broadcasters. In just its first year, it has garnered attention and acclaim from leading media outlets like USA Today, CNN, CNET.com, TechCrunch, FoxNews, among others.
"BlogTalkRadio is proud to be able to provide a platform that allows citizen broadcasters like Gotham Sports to produce high-quality shows from anywhere in the world," said Alan Levy, CEO, BlogTalkRadio. "'Live from Mickey Mantle's' is a demonstration of what BlogTalkRadio can do in the hands of enthusiastic business people."
The broadcast, to be hosted by Mark Healey and Mike Silva, is the latest addition to the Gotham Sports Media Network of shows, joining Gotham Baseball Live, Talking Baseball Live with Paul Greco and Lenny Melnick, Gotham Hoops Live, Baseball Talk with Carl "The Cabbie" & Dugout Joe and Gotham Nation. All of the shows air on BlogTalkRadio, and can be downloaded at GothamSportsRadio.com and iTunes.com.
Healey, the Executive Editor of Gotham Baseball Magazine, began his broadcasting career at WSTC-AM in Stamford, CT in 1996. After spending 1997-98 at WRKL-AM in Rockland County, NY, he joined the Associated Press, where he covered sports for the next seven years. He founded Gotham Sports Media and its flagship publication, Gotham Sports Media in April, 2005. In addition to co-hosting "Live from Mickey Mantle's," Healey also hosts "Gotham Nation."
Silva is a relative newcomer to broadcasting, but has established himself very quickly. Before joining Gotham Sports Media as a broadcast journalist and talk show host, Silva's "NY Baseball Talk" on 1240 AM WGBB was an instant success. Silva not only hosted the show, but produced and sold ad time to keep the show going strong throughout the 2007 season. His guests have included Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell, former New York Mets Darryl Strawberry and Edgardo Alfonzo, 1998 Yankees World Series hero Scott Brosius and a host of others.
