Zrinity Email Delivery Algorithm Upgrades Dramatically Increase Email Reputations and Delivery Rates

In 2005 Zrinity announced their email delivery algorithm which dramatically increased email deliverability and now, January 27 2008, the algorithm has been made even more powerful. Zrinity added dozens of features to their email delivery server, but Zrinity coders have chosen the upgrade to the delivery algorithm as their "Coolest New Feature" for the first quarter of 2008.

Zrinity Inc, a Utica, New York-based email marketing server provider, announced email delivery algorithm technology upgrades result in increased email delivery and reputations.

Zrinity coders added the ability for their email delivery server to, "Avoid dynamic block from recipient email servers." According to the Zrinity Blog the deliverability of messaging gateways can be dependent upon other gateways. Many times these gateways employ older email technology and are often configured in unusual manners. Until recently, administrators used a brute force approach to get the best delivery results and then often fine-tuned the number of connections and messages per connection to each of the major gateways.

Greg Alton, Zrinity Delivery Algorithm Coder said, "Newer email servers manage a very large number of connections efficiently and often caused problems for administrators of older email servers. It equates to an unintentional denial of service attack that isn't accepted well. The response is countermeasures that reduce the number of connections available to servers that is often just a hard block by the recipient server administrator."

The original algorithm, announced in a news release in August, 2005, works by initially sending a very low number of emails via simultaneous connections to any one ESP and for any one IP address. It monitors delivery failure to success ratios and slowly ramps up the number of simultaneous sends to that email service provider from that particular IP address. It then rapidly backs off the number of simultaneous sends when the ratios begin to work against the campaign. Many major ISP's (such as Hotmail, AOL, and Yahoo) will block large email campaigns that flood mail servers with too many incoming connections. XM Mail Server features a smart deliverability algorithm called slow start outbound connection ramping.

Zrinity coders added many new features in January, but one of the top features according to Zrinity coders was the addition of Domain Warnings to the XMS domain reports. This new feature empowers administrators with a full report of deliverability by recipient domain, which was originally indexed by volume sent. Now, the report is indexed by average delivery delay and severity is indicated by color. Administrators can now spot deliverability problems and their cause within seconds.
