San Jose, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2008
Xsigo Systems, Inc., the technology leader in data center I/O virtualization today announced that the editors of TechTarget's Storage Magazine and SearchStorage.com have selected the Xsigo VP780 I/O Director as a finalist for their annual "Storage Products of the Year" award for 2007.
Xsigo was one of the six finalists in the "storage network equipment" category which received a record number - more than 200 nominations - of new-storage related products for 2007. The entries were judged by the Storage Magazine-SearchStorage.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants. Each product was gauged on six key criteria: ease of integration, functionality, innovation, manageability, performance and value. The finalists will be featured online at http://www.SearchStorage.com the week of January 21, 2008 and the winners will be announced on February 5, 2008.
Xsigo Systems, backed by heavyweight investors Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins and Graylock Ventures, launched in September of 2007 specifically to address the I/O connection bottlenecks currently found in the data center. Using Xsigo's technology, it is estimated that large data centers can lower their server-related operational expenses by up to 80%, cut capital costs by 50%, and use 70% less cabling by using Xsigo's technology - resulting in 100x faster server management.
"Xsigo's I/O Director technology is in growing demand as more companies recognize the efficiency, security, and agility benefits that virtual I/O delivers - therefore, being nominated as a finalist for the 'Storage Products of the Year' Award is an honor and a testament to our success," said Jon Toor, Xsigo's vice president of marketing.
With Xsigo's VP 780 I/O Director, IT managers can provision I/O resources on-the-fly without disrupting network and storage configurations, and without physically entering the data center. Xsigo consolidates the I/O infrastructure and replaces physical network and storage interfaces (NICs and HBAs) with virtual resources that are remotely manageable from a single console. Unlike alternative approaches, the Xsigo I/O Director offers reduced capital costs, greater management simplicity, and support for open standards.
