Papierdoll Magazine, the flagship site of the Papierdoll group of fashion sites and blogs and Second City Style, fashion magazine and blog announce the launch of a series of events beginning at New York Fashion week and continuing throughout the year. The first Meet the Designer series happens on Wednesday, February 6, 2008 during IMG / Mercedes-Benz fashion week at hotel QT near Times Square and minutes away from the epicenter of fashion week, Bryant Park.
The event will focus on emerging fashion design talent Jedda Kahn. Since showing his first Spring collection in 2005, Kahn has held various fashion shows around New York City and this season he looks to show his breakout Fall 2008 collection to an audience including celebrities, press and design peers.
The installation show is set to take place against the backdrop of Hotel QT's acclaimed swimming pool room which contains a large movie screen a spa, and a sauna.
"This event allows the press and public to get face-to-face with emerging design talent," said Michelle Bell, editor in chief of Papierdoll. "They will not only experience the clothes, but they will get the opportunity to talk to the designer and understand the thought process involved in putting a fall collection together."
Lauren Dimet Waters of Second City Style states, "Emerging designers, artists, photographers are the lifeblood of their respective field. Without their works, advancement in the arts ceases to exist. They create the definitive works that are studied examined and appreciated for years to come; this series of events is meant to shine the spotlight on their works and contributions."
The event is also being held in conjunction with Projekt NYC, a collective group that holds various networking events around New York including their award winning Love party.
The first event is being held at the posh Hotel QT near Times Square. The hotel is home to a multitude of major events throughout the year. Jedda Kahn's live model installation show will take place in the QT's luxurious pool room complete with sauna and spa.
