The 36th Annual Minneapolis Boat Show Opens Today

Largest boat show in the upper Midwest prepared for big crowds.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) January 24, 2008 -- The 36th Annual Minneapolis Boat Show opens today at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The event will be ongoing through January 27th. Last year the Minneapolis Boat Show attracted more than 40,000 visitors. This year, the biggest marine marketplace in the Midwest has more than 200 exhibits from tiny dinghies to gigantic yachts filling more than 400,000 square feet. Special features include:

"Bling My Boat" - A Boat Makeover Contest: Presented by Travelers Insurance
The Uran family of Excelsior are the lucky winners of this year's "Bling My Boat" contest, one of the most popular exhibits at the Minneapolis Boat Show. Come see how the experts from Shipwreck Boats have made over a classic 1974 Donzi. Check out the Bling My Boat exhibit in Lobby E.

Antique and Classic Boat Display
In celebration of the 36th Anniversary of the Minneapolis Boat Show, the Antique and Classic Boat Display will return this year with Minnesota-made boats and other maritime memorabilia. The theme this year is "Before and After" and the exhibit will feature a 1955 Thompson Thomboy. In addition, the Minneapolis Boat Show will be hosting free seminars to show visitors how to restore these classics. Check the show website for more details.

Sailfest
New for 2008, Sailfest is a dedicated sailing showcase within the show, where all the sailboat dealers and exhibitors are located. Sailboats, gear and accessories, plus sailing seminars and other exciting show-related specials will be featured.

Discover Boating Center
The Discover Boating Center is the one-stop resource for boating information and advice. Staffed by experts who can answer questions and help visitors choose a boat that will give them years of enjoyment, the Discover Boating Center is here to help Minneapolis Boat Show visitors become better boaters. The Discover Boating Center is located in Lobby C.

The Crocs™ Test Drive
Minneapolis boat show attendees will have chance to "test drive," a pair of Crocs during their visit to the show. Visitors can use these comfortable shoes during the show, and then either buy them or return them for an online coupon. The Crocs™ TEST DRIVE is located in Lobby E.
Show hours are: Wednesday, January 23 from 5 pm to 10 pm; Thursday, January 23 and Friday, January 25 from Noon to 10 pm; Saturday, January 26 from 10 am to 10 pm; and Sunday, January 27 from 10 am to 6 pm.
