Cablevision Systems Corp. announced today it is recognizing Universal HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "45 Days In HD, On iO TV" countdown. Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 744, Universal HD features award-winning blockbuster films, premier sporting events, and record-breaking series in 100 percent, 1080i true HD format with dynamic Dolby Digital surround sound. Universal HD programming includes series such as "Jericho," "Friday Night Lights," "Threshold, Kidnapped," and "Touching Evil," as well as returning favorites that include "Battlestar Galactica," "Six Feet Under" and "Firefly." Every Wednesday, primetime viewers can catch Universal HD's Sports Block with the World's Greatest Sporting Events featuring HD action of Exclusive Boxing, Figure and Speed Skating and Extreme Sports- The AST Dew Tour, Jeep World of Adventure HD.
During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 45 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.
