Riverside, CA (PRWEB) January 27, 2008
Springboard Nonprofit Consumer Credit Management is pleased to announce the return of Get Checking to the San Diego area beginning February 23, 2008. Get Checking is a national financial education program designed specifically to help consumers establish a primary banking relationship and gain access to mainstream financial services. Springboard is pleased to offer the class in conjunction with ByDesign Financial Solutions, the primary Get Checking educator in Southern California.
The 6-hour class provides information on different types of checking, savings and deposit accounts, understanding bank statements and how to balance accounts, and offers a section on budgeting and credit education. "A review of basic budgeting, as well as how to manage a checking or savings account, are both vital to long-term success in money management. Knowing how much money you have to spend, and learning to make good choices about how it is spent, can help both with balancing a checkbook and long-term financial goals," said Dee Ann Chandler, Springboard's Education Director.
Course graduates receive a Certificate of Completion, which will allow them to open accounts at the program's participating financial institutions. The type of account a graduate may receive is determined by the financial institution.
The next class in the San Diego area will be held in El Cajon on Saturday, February 23th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Classes are also planned for Saturday, March 22nd and Saturday, April 26th at the same location and times.
Consumers must have a current copy of their ChexSystems report before making reservations for the class. Reports can be ordered free by calling 800-428-9623. Those interested in attending Get Checking should RSVP to 800-354-3170. There is a $60 fee for the workshop and attendees must bring their ChexSystems reports with them to class.
