Overseas property developers are increasingly using well known or celebrity architects to design and help sell their homes. Overseas property portal has identified the trend and gibes several examples including that of a resort in Portugal. This resort has over 20 international architects contributing the Design Resort. The trend may become common place as investors become used to the fact that their new developments have a well known architect behind them. Investors may see an architect designed property as a work of art and therefore a greater future value

Overseas property portal HomesGoFast.com reports a new trend in the types of homes that are now available to the international real estate buyer. Property developers are now increasingly employing the services of celebrity architects to appeal to investors and luxury home buyers.

The UK based portal which has been promoting overseas property since 2003 has seen the changes in the industry towards architect designed property. One such example is seen at Bom Sucesso Portugal. This resort employs numerous architects to create a Design Resort Leisure Golf & Spa. Award winning architects such as England's David Chipperfield, Portugal's Alvaro Siza Vieira and Spain's Josep Llinas have all created their own designs for the resort. The project is said to be one of the most ambitious project ever planned for a luxury tourist resort.

The British love great architecture this is demonstrated by the continuing popularity of Channel 4 TV called Grand Design .The series concentrates on designer homes with professional and amateur architects who unveil some of the most stunning designer properties.

The UK has its own Housing Design Awards which are promoted by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the National House-Building Council, the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Royal Town Planning Institute. Awards are for projects of high quality.

Dellis Cay is being developed by Turkish tourism magnate Dr. Cem Kinay. Piero Lissini is designing the main hotel and a set of villas in his typically modern, bold and simple style. In a recent interview in Dr. Kinay notes that "The architects are our biggest selling point." One bedroom apartments on Dellis Cay start at £835,000.

Other resorts around the world are using architects to get a leg up on the competition. Melvin Villarroel is working on a community in Marbella, Spain called Lomas Club. Homes at this development are also being designed by Angel Taborda and Victoria Guana, and Villarroel is also working on several other new resorts in Spain.

Matteo Thun is designing a new set of fascinating apartments in the Austrian resort of Katschberg called Edel:Weiss. Sir Norman Foster is working on several projects; one is in Egypt called Serrenia and there is also Corniche Bay resort in Mauritius. These villas will only cost £1.7 million.

Overseas property investors are now getting in on the action, many architects have created landmark buildings which can put a unique value to a designer home. Some may say owning a designer home is more like owning a piece of art with a completely different future value. The luxury home buyer will almost come to expect a celebrity architect behind the design of a new home, for this reason alone the designer home trend seems set to continue.
