First Choice Power Sponsors Recycling at Winterfest 200 Recycling Boxes Collect Hundreds of Festival Recyclables

First Choice Power and the Pearland Parks & Recreation partnered and reduced the number of plastic bottles and aluminum cans going to landfills during this year's GREEN-themed Winterfest, hosted January 12. More than 10,000 festival participants were encouraged to dispose of their recyclables in the First Choice Power, "Recycle Here" boxes.

First Choice Power and the Pearland Parks & Recreation partnered and reduced the number of plastic bottles and aluminum cans going to landfills during this year's green-themed Winterfest, hosted January 12. More than 10,000 festival participants were encouraged to dispose of their recyclables in the First Choice Power, red "Recycle Here" boxes.

"Pearland Winterfest is a family-fun filled event with a wide variety of economic friendly activities for all to enjoy," said Gary Patterson, First Choice Power's director of sales and dedicated customer account manager for the Pearland area. "First Choice Power is proud to support Pearland's efforts and partner to help protect the environment."

Winterfest has been a Pearland tradition for 12 years, said Carry Watts of Pearland Parks & Recreation. In efforts to preserve the natural environment, increase recycling at a city sponsored events and educate citizens on environmental concerns, this year's Winterfest was a "green" event.

"This was the first time Pearland Parks and Recreation recycled materials from the event, and it was a huge success," Watts said. "Our partnership with First Choice Power significantly reduced trash at the festival and educated hundreds of family's on how a simple task such as recycling makes a positive impact on our environment."

Chocolate Dee Litez, a Winterfest vendor collected the largest amount of recyclable products in its First Choice Power "Recycle Here" box, and will be awarded a free pass to Pearland's July 4th Celebration of Freedem for its green efforts

First Choice Power's Simply Better Recycling Program allows community members to request free recycling boxes for events, schools and festivals.
