Acquisition of CyberRead.com signals long-time Internet executive's entry into the ebook retailing space.

The acquisition coincides with the rapid growth of the electronic publishing industry and its recent retail expansion. According to the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF), the growth of wholesale ebook sales has quickly accelerated over the past seven quarters, and Publishers Weekly news magazine recently named the popularity of ebooks as one of the top 15 trends to watch in 2008.
