With a congratulatory letter from the co-chairs of Marriott's Green Council, which was established to integrate environmental sustainability into Marriott's business strategy, Renaissance Houston, TX Hotel learned that they earned the highly coveted ENERGY STAR® label from the EPA.

Having installed an Energy Management System to control the A/C and heating systems, they are controlling the amount of time each unit runs and more accurately controlling the temperature set point, thereby reducing energy costs.

By replacing older 3.0 gallon per flush toilets with 1.6 gallon per flush toilets, they reduced the water consumption per flush by almost half, not only saving dollars for the hotel, but saving on the valuable water supply, and therefore, also reducing their carbon footprint.
