Simon Jones has joined transport and logistics Software as a Service provider, Deltion -- http://www.deltion.co.uk -- from NetDespatch as Business Development Director. Mr. Jones, who is aged 45, was National Accounts Manager at NetDespatch.

Much of Mr. Jones' career to-date has been with web services and transport related companies. Talking about his reasons for joining Deltion, he said: "I am convinced that, with CarrierNetOnline (CNO), Deltion offers its customers the most comprehensive end to end transport and logistics management system on the market. It is unequalled in scope and capability, and is the leading web based system using the 'pay per consignment' charging model. In addition it has the resilience and performance that comes with being underpinned by leading edge technology from Oracle."

With responsibility for sales, Mr. Jones played a central role in the dramatic growth of NetDespatch over the last three years. He was instrumental in winning the company's biggest account as well as growing existing customers. "When I looked around the market I found customers were very happy with the system and the service they get from Deltion."

"I watched Deltion and CNO's rapid growth, and was impressed by the strategic direction and the way the company was developing. After some significant new business wins recently, I believe it is in a position to grow very rapidly.

"It provides a total solution for parcel, pallet and LTL operations, from mobile applications to load planning, from online booking to invoicing. Because the pay per consignment model eliminates capital expenditure and minimises risk it is fast becoming the most popular way to pay for IT systems in the transport sector."

A keen runner, Mr. Jones is running the London Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support in April this year -- his first marathon for 10 years (see attached photo).
