The management team of Smith Noble, a leading national retailer of custom window treatments, turned charity into child's play during a shopping spree at their local Wal-Mart.

Equipped with wish lists supplied by the Children's Fund of San Bernardino County, the Managers, Directors and President of Smith Noble (some donning appropriate "Santa's Helper" attire including elf hats and reindeer antlers) scoured the aisles for everything from traditional dolls, bikes and trucks to trendy Transformers. Visions of Spider Man, Darth Vader and Harry Potter also seemed to be dancing through the heads of the 50 children Smith Noble helped to have a brighter holiday. In all, the company donated 154 gifts worth over $2600 in this 2nd year of cooperation with The Children's Fund.

Says President John Hoven, "This is truly an event everyone at Smith Noble looks forward to at Christmas; a chance for us to give back to the community that's been so good to us for almost 20 years." Besides," he adds with a twinkle in his eye, "some of us grown ups have almost as much fun picking out the toys as the kids will have playing with them - I guarantee someone's going to love their new BMX bike, because I gave it a thorough test drive!"

The Children's Fund of San Bernardino County is an Inland Empire charity that organizes donations for children ages birth to 18 years old. These children are at risk from abuse, poverty, neglect and other unfortunate circumstances. Smith Noble, for the second year, "adopted" 50 of these children to brighten their holidays with new toys. Without these donations some children might not get a Christmas.
