J&M Finishing, a commercial trade bindery with locations in Long Island, City, NY, and Middlesex, NJ, has purchased a Wohlenberg Sprinter 16-station gathering line and a Wohlenberg City-e 6000 perfect binder from Colter & Peterson (C&P), North American distributor for the complete line of Wohlenberg perfect binders and trimmers.
According to J&M Finishing owner Mike Perreca, the company selected the equipment for its host of automated features that reduce make-ready times, enhance production speed and maximize output capability.
"We're trading in a slower, older, less productive production line for a newer, faster one," says Perreca.
J&M Finishing also chose to equip their Wohlenberg City-e 6000 perfect binder with EVA and PUR glue systems. EVA hot-melt glue is a standard adhesive used in traditional perfect binding while PUR glue is the strongest and most durable binding adhesive available. The addition of PUR glue will allow J&M to bid on this premium work.
"We're going to be able to do PUR gluing which is something we could not do before since we could not add it to our machine," says Perreca. "Now, we're going to generate more sales because of it."
Colter & Peterson will install the new machines starting in March at J&M Finishing's Middlesex location.
