New England Peptide, LLC (NEP), has named Nadine DuChateau business development manager.

DuChateau brings nearly 10 years of sales and business development expertise in the biotech industry to NEP. Most recently, she served as U.S. business development manager for Johnson Matthey Pharma Services (Devens, MA), which provides contract chemistry and manufacturing services for active pharmaceutical ingredients bound for clinical trials and market approval.

Prior to that time, DuChateau was an account manager and a sales representative for UCB Bioproducts, Inc. (Smyrna, Ga.), covering major portions of the United States and Canada. The company, acquired by Lonza Group Ltd. in 2006, provided regulatory and large-scale manufacturing services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies for synthetic peptides and active pharmaceutical ingredients in compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in both the United States (FDA) and Europe (European Medicines Agency-EMEA).

DuChateau also has held the position of sales representative for Bachem Bioscience, Inc. (King of Prussia, PA), and Biodesign International (Saco, ME). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in medical microbiology and immunology from the University of Wisconsin, and is a member of the Project Management Institute and American Chemical Society.

"Nadine brings a wealth of experience in research, clinical, and commercial environments to NEP and its customers," says Dave Robinson, NEP's CEO. "Her background meshes perfectly with our focus on delivering discovery and preclinical services, and with our preparation to move into the clinical and commercial-grade peptide market. The results she has achieved throughout her career complement NEP's growth, emphasis on quality, service and culture of continuous improvement."

New England Peptide (http://www.newenglandpeptide.com), founded in 1998, designs and produces custom peptides and polyclonal antibodies for drug and vaccine discovery organizations worldwide. Headquartered in the Boston metro area in Gardner, MA, the company's chemists and immunological experts specialize in delivering a full range of services for biotech and pharmaceutical applications.

Peptides are small proteins that play key roles in biochemical regulation of all life systems, helping to fight diseases as diverse as cancer, diabetes, obesity, and HIV/AIDS. Peptides' inherent low toxicity and high potency, coupled with improved drug delivery methods and enhanced manufacturing capabilities, are fueling a surge in research and clinical use. All segments of the peptide market - from therapeutics and vaccines to diagnostics and cosmetics - are thriving.
