Hartsville, South Carolina (PRWEB) February 4, 2008
Hilex Poly LLC: The world's largest plastic bag company, Hilex Poly, announced a manufacturing consolidation plan that will result in the closure of its Victoria, Texas, plant. The closure is part of the integration strategy Hilex has been implementing since its acquisition of Vanguard Plastics in October of 2005. An estimated 70 employees will be affected by this action.
According to Ben Mascarello, Vice President of Operations for Hilex, "While this is a very difficult decision, this action will allow us to reduce our overhead costs and increase our production efficiencies. Due to increased productivity across the rest of the Hilex plant network, the company does not expect to reduce overall production capacity.
"At Hilex, our employees are our most important asset. As such, we are going to great lengths to provide relocation opportunities for many of our employees to other Hilex locations. We are also working with other local manufacturers and the Texas Workforce Solutions in order to assist our employees in finding new employment opportunities."
