Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 6, 2008
ASN Events announces a winter season "Kash is King" Best Trick contest for amateur and sponsored skateboarders. Action Sports Nation, the World's first Amateur Action Sports federation launches its first series, a Best Trick competition, for kash and prizes. The first event will take place on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Woodward Skate Park, Grapevine, Texas with numerous events added to the calendar in cooperation with participating ASN Parks.
"Kash is King" was developed as an ASN launch pad to introduce the formation of The Action Sports Nation. We are here with thousands of registered skaters and 20+ affiliate skate parks nationwide. In essence, we are "One Nation Over Wheels" for amateur & sponsored skateboarders worldwide. Local skaters will compete in a one-day, make-it or break-it-championship. Prize money and sponsored prizes will be offered to finalists.
"A Nation is born!!!! Said Vince Sanchez president of ASN and ASN Events. The ASN 'Kash is King' Best Trick contests were created to celebrate the formation of ASN and serve local skaters in their quest for excellence and the possibility of Kash and sponsored prizes. Skateboarding and Action Sports are a global phenomenon. With ASN, we are honoring creative athleticism and are on the cutting edge of this hugely popular sports and lifestyle category. We are committed to supporting amateur talent and their unique efforts for many years to come. As part of this National initiative, ASN is committed to staging events and supporting a social network that skates locally and shares globally. Amateur Action Sports are the lifeblood of Action Sports. We are the epicenter of that lifestyle, celebrating individual aspirations over mass market commercialization."
American Demographics reports that three out of five U.S. teenagers participate and/or watch Action Sports. There are approximately 60 million Americans between the ages of 10 and 24 with an annual buying power of $250 billion. It is little wonder that locally based action sports brands are targeting this market.
About ASN: Headquartered in Atlanta, GA, ASN is forging a unified network of privately owned skate parks and a Nation of Amateur/Sponsored Skaters and their Fans. With ASN, we created a federation to serve amateur skaters and others who live the Action Sports lifestyle. ASN registered Skaters will compete in ASN styled events to help progress this creative sports culture, unifying a worldwide fan base, offering everyone a new cool place to compete, gain exposure, win and buy. The official ASN websites will be Catch My Action.com, an 'Action Sports Utility" a hybrid modeled from site attributes such as: YouTube and FaceBook. ASN is a unifying body dedicated to individuality, excellence, competitive benchmarks and fan awareness, powered by sponsor commitments. Privately owned Skate parks are the best and safest places to skate, learn, compete, engage and enjoy the ASN Declaration of Independence. There are over 200 privately owned skate parks in this country. There are currently 20 parks flying the ASN flag this year, with more parks signing weekly. The ASN energy is kinetic and rolling across the country!!!!!! Catch our action; we are "One Nation Over Wheels.

Each event runs for one day only. The Kash is King contest will be an open division jam format. Each skater will have an introductory line where their name will be called and they alone will attack the obstacle one time. This enables the crowd and judges to identify each skater; this will be done prior to the jam. The jam will consist of a number of skaters depending on number of entries. The skaters will perform maneuvers on a designated part of the skate park-usually the most dynamic obstacle in the park. The Jam will be 15 minutes long. Judging will be based on a score of 50-100 per notable trick. Scores will be based on Style Speed Originality Difficulty and Energy. At the end of each jam, the top 3 will advance to the Kash is King Jam. This will be considered the finals of the contest and it will begin like the qualifier jams with an introductory line. After the 15-minute time is up, the skaters will be given a breather and be given one last attempt on the obstacle, similar to the introductory line only at the end of the Kash is King jam. Judge's scores determine the winner and an official judges meeting. The winner is crowned the King of Kash.
The event will be covered by local TV, and local news media, with coverage of each event available for viewing and comments at http://www.actionsportsnation.com.
