Two copywriters from Kent-based marketing/PR firm We Know Words will deliver a presentation on writing effective online press releases to promote business at the Thursday, February 21 Kent Chamber of Commerce Sales and Marketing Roundtable. The morning meeting is open to both Chamber members and the public, and starts at 7 a.m. at the Zephyr Grill & Bar, 240 W Kent Station.
If the term "press release" makes you think of a boring piece of paper mailed to journalists who don't really care, come learn about the new world of press releases and how to use them to market your business on the Internet. This isn't your father's press release; this is Press Release 2.0. Attend the February Sales and Marketing Roundtable and learn:
- How press releases are the new medium for communicating with customers
- How press releases can help search engine optimization
- How to maximize your use of online press releases
From creating an online press room to an actual case study done just for (and about) this event, you'll learn online PR tips and techniques you can put to use that very same day. Marketing copywriter Marina Parr is a former newspaper reporter who specializes in media relations. Sharon Long Baerny is the president of We Know Words, past president of the Seattle Direct Marketing Association and noted online marketing expert. Their marketing firm's clients include some of the region's leading high tech companies, as well public agencies and universities.
As part of this presentation, Parr has written a useful article titled Market your business on the Internet with online press releases and a press room--Nine tips for building an online press room that builds your online presence, available at http://www.weknowwords.com/onlinepressreleases.htm.
"This is a great opportunity for businesses--both large and small--to learn simple, effective ways to tell their story to the media, so that journalists 'get it right,' the first time. But it's also about using press releases for SEO" said Parr. "And, as you'll see, online press releases can be just as powerful in reaching potential customers as the press. So you can use online PR to communicate directly with prospects whether or not your press release is even published."
