Python Bootcamp June 9-13 at the Big Nerd Ranch: Not a Sci-Fi Original Movie

Python Bootcamp with David Beazley returns to the Big Nerd Ranch June 9-13, 2008. The intensive five-day, all-inclusive class focuses on integrating Python with existing systems and applications.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 15, 2008 --Python guru, David Beazley, returns to the Big Nerd Ranch, Inc. June 9-13, 2008. Python, one of the most widely used object-oriented programming languages, has earned a well-deserved reputation for assisting software developers in "getting the job done" with concise, elegant code. Whether you're talking about complex database driven web sites, robots, or system administration, organizations as diverse as Fermilab, Yahoo, Google, and Redhat are leveraging its power for their own projects. Python consistently proves to be a powerhouse in the software and web development world.

Python Bootcamp at the Big Nerd Ranch takes its Python training class one step further. By teaching Python within a real-world context, David Beazley, author of the widely acclaimed book 'Python Essential Reference,' demonstrates how to effectively apply Python to a wide range of practical problems. More importantly, he shows you how to integrate Python with existing software and systems.

"One of the greatest challenges a programmer faces when learning a new language is making it work in the real world," commented David Beazley, Python Bootcamp instructor. "Unless you understand how to take what you've learned and incorporate that with other applications on a system, you are going to be frustrated. Also, Python was never created to be used in isolation--it was always intended to play well with other software and systems. That is why integration is a key component of my curriculum."

Core class topics include:

  • An overview of the interpreter and associated integrated development environment (IDLE)
  •
  • How to effectively use the built-in types
  •
  • Program structure, control flow, and functions
  •
  • Object oriented programming with classes and metaclasses
  •
  • Modules, packages, and libraries
  •
  • Processes and interprocess communication
  •
  • Text processing and text generation
  •
  • Network programming
  •
  • Data handling (HTML, XML, etc.)
  •
  • Integration with software written in C and C++
Students attending the class should have some programming experience, preferably working with an object-oriented language like C++ or Java and scripting like Perl.
