Eliminates the need for telemetry in applications where real-time data is not required.

M2M Data Corporation (M2M) today announced the release of its new field data collection service called Intelligent Data Acquisition (iDA™).

The new iDA™ service uses M2M software running on a laptop or PDA to allow operators, technicians, pumpers and engineers to collect field data for upload to M2M's iSCADA® remote monitoring and control service. iDA™ is an economical alternative to M2M's satellite-based telemetry for the collection of data for which it is not necessary to provide real-time updates.

iDA™ software is provisioned using M2M's iSCADA® service including M2M's standard security and authentication processes.

Technicians enter field data using an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) on an scheduled or ad hoc basis. The full functionality of M2M's iSCADA® service is available to the user once the data has been uploaded via a secure and authenticated Internet link.

Donald Wallace, M2M Data Corporation's CEO, said, "iDA™ gives our customers a cost-effective tool to gain the value of iSCADA® without investing in satellite telemetry. We developed the iDA™ service and software after listening to our customers who wanted the benefits of our iSCADA® service without having to invest in telemetry."

iSCADA® is a rapidly deployed, managed machine-to-machine communications platform used for monitoring and controlling remote, mobile, and fixed assets. iSCADA® uses Internet, wireless, satellite, smart field devices, and industrial M2M technologies to efficiently communicate operating data between people, devices, and systems. The service is provided on a turnkey basis including communication services with minimal capital expense, and is backed by a service level guarantee.
