The LED (light-emitting diode) is coming into the spotlight for its various advantages. Most of all, it is energy-efficient and environment-friendly. Durability is up to 100,000 hours and maintenance cost is inexpensive. It doesn`t contain any noxious materials such as mercury and cadmium. Because of these innovative qualities, LED is being applied to various sectors.
Particularly, LED lighting is considered one of the most promising sectors as many countries are making the envirment protection and energy conservation one of their top priorities. The U.S. government`s Environmental Protection Agency has given LED lighting the 'Energy Star' that certifies its eco-friendliness and energy-efficiency.
In this regard, Fawoo Technology is attracting attention as one of the major LED lighting manufacturers in South Korea. The company has succeeded in developing TFT-LCD Backlight unit technology and V-Cutting technology for advertising panels. Based on these advanced techmology, the company has released "LumiSheet" and Fawoo LED bulbs.
The LumiSheet is the world`s first unified BLU(Back Light Unit), which contains LED as a source of light. It has many advantages, including slim & lightweight & simple design, easy installation and water-proof, eco-friendly quality.
Fawoo Technology has also developed the LED bulb, "LumiDas", as an alternative to standard fluorescent or halogen light bulbs.
One of the remarkable technologies regarding the new LED Bulb is the company`s exclusive Light Guide Lens for removing glaring, which causes eye fatigue. The specialized technology is applied to a protective diffusing cover, which also diffuses heat without reducing lighting energy. Only about 10% light loss is expected. To minimize heat building up from the LED, the company has also invented a heat dissipation method. Besides, its patented fanless system makes the LED lifespan longer and reduces noise. Its body size is so compact as to be installed quite easily anywhere. As the demand for LED lighting is on the rise worldwide, the company expects its revenues to reach about 120 billion won in 2008. To cover the growing demand, Fawpp Technology plans to increase its production facility in South Korea with a goal to produce all of its LED lighting in the Korean factory.
