Most domestic and international airlines are steadily increasing the percentage of maintenance work outsourced to third party vendors, particularly in markets with low flight volume. Due to the nature of mechanical failures, outsourced vendors may not have the depth of technical expertise to resolve issues quickly. Often, maintenance events which could be minimized or eliminated become lengthy and exorbitantly expensive flight delays. To that end, AireXpert Technics today announced the industry release of its proprietary AOG Onsite™ Collaboration Technologies application, which lowers the rate and duration of technical flight delays while increasing quality assurance specifically during unscheduled maintenance events.

"Over the last twelve months, we've listened carefully to various airlines and aircraft operators as they've spoken candidly about the technical challenges that they face in the current market climate. Unfortunately, the continued upward trend of flight delays and cancellations indicates without a doubt that airlines are indeed struggling" stated Andy Hakes, AireXpert Line Maintenance Operations Manager.

As evidenced by Monday's Aircraft Maintenance Outsourcing Summit in Washington DC, significant concerns are being voiced by regulators surrounding various types of outsourced maintenance. "The issues of outsourced maintenance are multi-faceted, and can be endlessly debated, but no one can deny that as the base of maintenance providers grows, it becomes more difficult to maintain the high standards of schedule reliability that most airlines are used to," continued Hakes. "Aircraft operators of all types and sizes have consistently reiterated to us that it continues to be a daunting challenge to maintain not only high levels of quality control, but high reliability."

AireXpert's core service, AOG Onsite™ Collaboration Technologies, enables aircraft operators to instantly provide technical expertise and support at remote locations as if they were actually on-site via a proprietary interface developed specifically for the airline industry. High quality, real time video and advanced audio communications allow multiple parties to communicate directly with on-site technical professionals, resulting in substantial reductions in troubleshooting and damage evaluation times.
