We share college administrators' concerns over the rising rates of student attrition

Student attrition rates among traditional and online institutions are on the rise according to recent estimates - as high as 50 percent for traditional students and upwards of 60 percent for online learners. As a result, college and university administrators are searching for new ways to engage and retain students. The dialog will begin with an online survey of traditional and online college officials involved in recruiting and retaining full-time and part-time undergraduates and graduates to identify the burning retention issues. The survey results will then be compiled and reviewed by leading higher education administrators in a series of meetings to create a list of priorities that will culminate in a one-day conference on June 3, 2008. Thought leaders in the field of retention will gather at the inaugural event in Atlanta, Georgia to present best practices and common-sense solutions to help institutions improve retention rates.
