NourishLife launches women's heart disease awareness campaign in conjunction with American Heart Month.

In conjunction with American Heart Month which was enacted by Congress in 1963 to raise awareness for heart disease, NourishLife has launched a public awareness campaign targeted to women to inform them of the dangers of heart disease.

February 1 marked the date for the national Go Red For Women campaign, and NourishLife contributed by spreading the word to thousands of its female customers about the dangers of heart disease and what they can do to prevent it.

Not only are all women are at risk for heart disease, but according to the American Heart Association (AHA), the lifetime risk of cardiovascular disease for women 40 and above is more than 1 in 2. In 2004 alone, 459,100 women died of heart disease, and in 2005, 42.7 million women actually sustained heart disease.

One of the major hurdles faced in combating heart disease is awareness. "We've read all the statistics and studies concerning heart disease. When we started thinking of it in terms of taking the lives of our mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters, we knew that we couldn't just sit by and do nothing," said Jason Way, VP-Customer Experience of NourishLife. "There are simple steps that every woman can take to ensure that she does not become a statistic."

NourishLife's awareness campaign provided women with straightforward tips for how they can protect their hearts.
