Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa has been honoured with not one but two prestigious awards at the 2007 AON Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards held on Denarau Island on Friday February 8, 2008.
Sofitel, who had the privilege of hosting the Tourism Awards ceremony in its Grand Ballroom this year, was recognised in two different categories - Best Restaurant for its popular outdoor eatery 'Salt', and the Frontliner of the Year award presented to Activities Supervisor Kolinio Temo or exemplary customer service.
Amanda Silk, General Manager of the Sofitel Fiji Resort, says the hotel's two diverse awards wins acknowledge Sofitel's commitment to customer service, operational expertise and product innovation.

Ms. Silk said Kolinio Temo's Frontliner award - otherwise known as the "Positively Outrageous Customer Service Award" - acknowledged the high standard of customer service skills cultivated by Sofitel staff who consistently go beyond the call of duty to make holiday dreams come true for vistors to the Fiji Islands.

A proud Fijian and Sofitel Fiji's Activities Supervisor, Kolinio Temo, leads a team of eight at the resort, and is responsible for a range of 'public' programs, from arranging traditional cultural and leisure activities to coordinating recreational itineraries for conference and incentive guests. He has also led fundraising efforts for Sofitel to assist the Cure Kids Fiji Charity, and is a qualified life guard and fitness instructor.
Ms. Silk said the Best Restaurant accolade showed how far Fiji has progressed on its journey to becoming a legitimate food destination, settling a new benchmark for others to aspire to in terms of quality and menu selection.
"The Sofitel Fiji and our fine food and beverage team at Salt has won a variety of service and chef awards in the past, but this nationally recognised award for the restaurant at large and its staff is the jewel in our culinary crown," Silk said.
