Virginia Beach, VA (PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- Vianix® announced today that it has updated the features available in the Application Programming Interface (API) for its well known MASC® codec. MASC® is the compression technology of choice in voice applications requiring the benefits of small file sizes with the highest voice quality combined with highest accuracy in speech recognition engines. MASC® is broadly deployed in medical, legal and insurance dictation and transcription industries today.

A new "Live-Insert" capability allows the user to insert live recording at a selected point of interest in an audio file or recording, complementing the standard mode of inserting a separate audio file. The Live-Insert feature allows users to quickly and easily augment or annotate a current dictation without the concern of losing a thought that needs to be captured performing unrelated file operations. The standard mode allows easy assembly of existing recordings into a single concatenated file.

Additionally, the API supports a full feature set with record, play, forward, rewind, mark, insert, and delete functions, as required for dictation by professionals such as physicians, attorneys and claims adjusters, and for transcription by transcription providers.

"Our customers from various markets such as healthcare, legal and insurance, were extremely interested in having this feature as part of the API set to enable their customers to record anywhere, anytime, anyway and on any device they want without the concern of missing or leaving out patient or client information while recording voice on a mobile or a tethered dictation device", explains Dr. Veeru Ramaswamy, Vianix® CTO.

The updated API will be available from Vianix® at the end of the first calendar quarter.
