When Jeanine DeSoto and Nydia Warren opened http://www.SamAndAndysPaw.com, the reasons were obvious to their customers. "Our business shows how much we like to spoil our pets," explains Jeanine. "We were always talking about doing something about our pets, business-wise, and from that we decided to look into how we could get an online business going for pet items."
http://www.SamAndAndysPaw.com was launched in September of 2007, offering a variety of pet items from a number of manufacturers. Named for Andy and Sammie, the business partners' dogs, the web store focuses on offering only proven products. "Quality is very important -- it's our top priority," says Jeanine. "Before we put anything on our web site, we test every item. We use it on our dogs and the dogs of friends and family, having everyone give their input so that we personally approve of everything on the site." And though everything is top quality, Jeanine insists it isn't all top-dollar merchandise. "We have a variety in our taste; we like to buy practical, well-priced items, and we also enjoy the more pricy items, so there's a selection."
Quality isn't just a priority for the products on http://www.SamAndAndysPaw.com; it is also a priority for customer service. Jeanine and Nydia recently began a blog for their business at http://www.SamAndAndysPaw.net, where they will interact with their customers and offer opinions on the products they offer. "We plan on using the blog to review products and to survey customers about their interest in potential products we've picked out," explains Jeanine, who is focused on the opportunities a blog presents. "Hopefully it'll be a place for dog forums soon, so our customers can discuss things they're experiencing with their pets, and we can help them and research what they're asking for."
Future products are also important to the business. "Right now we are trying to expand a little bit to offer cat products and more staple pet items such as bowls, food storage, collars, leashes, and things like that." The blog will also offer more conventional information about products and sales. "Each month we have 5-6 Featured Items offered at 20%, open to all customers," says Jeanine, "and we always try to feature a seasonal special."
