Cyber Intelligence Director Terry Gudaitis will be presenting best practices in using cyber intelligence to proactively protect financial institutions from Internet threats. In today's security environment, credit unions must deliver security outside the perimeter. While traditional online threats such as phishing are still prevalent, malware-- software designed to infiltrate or damage a computer system-- is quickly becoming one of the most dangerous risks online. Dr. Gudaitis will discuss what credit unions can do to protect themselves and their customers from identity theft.
Cyveillance's Chief Cyber Security Counsel Adam Palmer will discuss the ever evolving nature of Internet threats and their legal ramifications. Each new fraudulent Web site is not only an attack on the customer, it is an attack on the reputation of the target organization itself. As these counterfeit sites become more effective, consumer confusion increases and confidence in the credit union decreases. Mr. Palmer will discuss the criminal laws that protect financial institutions against these threats and the legal actions credit unions can take to proactively eliminate online risks.
Dr. Terry Gudaitis is a nationally-recognized authority on cyber security, cyber crime profiling and psychology. She has provided consultation and leadership in cyber crime to public and private industry including SAIC (Science Applications International Corporation) and NSEC (Network Security Corp.), federal intelligence agencies and bureaus, and law enforcement, focusing on domestic and international security issues.
