JourneyLite of West Florida Opens Surgical Center in Tampa to Treat Morbid Obesity

Our JourneyLite staff is dedicated to working with prospective and existing patients to make this journey as comfortable and as successful as we can.

Bariatric Partners, Inc., parent company of JourneyLite, a leading provider of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding surgery, has opened a new surgery center in Tampa, FL. The center, JourneyLite of West Florida, is located at 5329 Primrose Lake Circle, near the northern intersection of I-275 and I-75.

"We are delighted that JourneyLite of West Florida has officially opened its doors, giving our physicians and staff the venue to provide not only surgical services, but continued support for patients on their weight loss journey," stated Cynthia Winker, Chief Operations Officer for Bariatric Partners, Inc. "Our JourneyLite staff is dedicated to working with prospective and existing patients to make this journey as comfortable and as successful as we can."

The new surgery center is home to five laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) surgeons who are all part of JourneyLite of West Florida.

"We invite all surgeons who perform LAGB and want to be able to provide a lower cost option to their self-pay patients to join us and operate at a facility specially designed and built to treat obesity - the only way to long-term success," stated Dr. Lee Grossbard, bariatric surgical director for JourneyLite of West Florida.

"The need for an outpatient surgery center became evident as more patients and payers seek cost effective options for care. " added Grossbard. "Florida is a challenging state to get insurance companies to pay for bariatric surgery. In fact, one of the largest insurance companies in Florida currently does not cover the surgical treatment for morbid obesity. JourneyLite is working diligently with all insurers to increase coverage of this much needed and potentially life transforming procedure. Our hope is that this type of venue will allow more obese patients to obtain surgery, which is a documented long-term treatment for this devastating disease."
