CEA Offers Students New Study Abroad Options in Health Care, International Business and Economics

Leading study abroad provider establishes new programs in Spain, Costa Rica, Germany and South Africa to meet growing student demand.

Tempe, Arizona (PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- Heightened student interest to study abroad in Spain, Costa Rica, Germany and Africa has led CEA, the leading global marketplace for quality study abroad programs for university and college students in the U.S. and Canada, to expand its program offerings. New study abroad programs include Spanish Language Health Care, Spanish Language and Business Studies, and International Business, now available for the 2008 semester and summer sessions.

"As the world continues to shrink, we have experienced a heightened demand for programs dedicated to a wide variety of subjects with an international focus. It's no longer only about language and culture studies and we're developing programs in that spirit," says Dr. Geoffrey Bannister, CEA president and chief academic officer. "The number of students interested in pursuing international business, economics or health care in some capacity is overwhelming and much of this demand is a direct result of the recognition that employers in most markets place a premium on intercultural competence."

The number of students interested in pursuing international business, economics or health care in some capacity is overwhelming and much of this demand is a direct result of the recognition that employers in most markets place a premium on intercultural competence.
CEA has expanded its study abroad program offerings in four countries. Two programs are making their 2008 debut in Spain:

  • International Business
Spanish Language and Business Studies
University of Alicante, Alicante, Spain
Added to complement the existing Spanish Language Studies hosted by the University of Alicante, these programs are designed to provide students seeking business studies with options that offer coursework in an international context. Sample courses include Business Consulting, Human Resources Management, Environmental Economics, and Cross-cultural Business Behavior: Doing Business in Spain (summer).

Costa Rica is adding one new program:

  • Spanish for Health Care
Veritas University, San Jose, Costa Rica
This program is ideal for students seeking specialized language skills for participating in various medical fields. Students at any language level enroll in an intensive language curriculum delivered within a medical context that is designed to help students effectively communicate with people seeking medical attention (summer).

In addition to these progressive new programs, CEA has partnered with the Berlin School of Economics in Berlin, Germany, and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The Berlin School of Economics is one of the largest academic institutions in Germany for business studies and post-graduate management, and is recognized as one of the top universities of applied sciences. CEA students will benefit from the extensive knowledge and management experience of the school's 145 full-time Ph.D. and doctorate-holding professors. Program offerings include:

  • European Business and Economics. This program offers courses such as Cultural Diversity, Cross-Cultural Management, and Marketing for the Automobile Industry.
  • European Union in a Global World. Students can select from such courses as Global Challenges for European Firms or Global Warming--The Implications of the Environment for E.U. Businesses and Government.

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, the largest higher education institution in the country's Eastern and Southern Cape areas, has established itself as one of the leading institutions in South Africa. CEA students can participate in a full curriculum program, gaining access to courses from a truly robust portfolio of disciplines including marketing, accounting, business, engineering, art, liberal arts, history, bio sciences, political science, and psychology. CEA is now enrolling for the fall semester. Enrollment for one-year and spring 2009 terms will be available in the coming weeks.
