Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) February 22, 2008
SchoolHouse Kitchen is proud to announce that SchoolHouse Kitchen's™ Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico won a Gold Medal at the famed Napa Valley Mustard Festival in February. The Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico placed gold in the "Mustard-Based Salad Dressing/Sauce" category of the Festival's 12th annual World-Wide Mustard Competition. Over 400 entries from around the world were judged in 19 categories--notably with only one category for dressings--by food journalists and chefs.
Held during mustard season, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival's World-Wide Mustard Competition is considered the premier contest for mustards and mustard-based products. More than 100 restaurants, caterers, wineries, mustard and gourmet companies, as well as artists and sponsors, participate in the festival as well. [http://www.mustardfestival.org/about/ .
The community outreach component even sweetens the honor. Proceeds from the Napa Valley Mustard Festival benefit a variety of Napa Valley non-profit arts, cultural, historical, educational, and service organizations, which dovetails nicely with SchoolHouse Kitchen's own mission of supporting educational causes.
SchoolHouse Kitchen founder Patsy Smith excitedly says, "It is so thrilling to see my goal--to create a terrific tasting, all-natural, basic salad dressing, just like mine at home--recognized on a national level. I care about what my customers eat in the same way that I care about what I feed my children, and we at SchoolHouse Kitchen are truly excited that the Napa Valley Mustard Competition is as supportive of our Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico as we are proud."
SchoolHouse Kitchen President Wendy W. Smith and Design Director Christopher M. Smith will be present to collect their Gold Medal honor at the awards ceremony on March 14, 2008 at the Black Stallion Winery in Napa, California.
