Carla Lockerd has opened a new gift basket business at, focusing her products on gift basket items suitable for a baby shower. The product selection is exclusively geared toward items for expectant mothers, with each thoughtful array chosen carefully for personal taste and practicality.

Carla's reason for opening such a store is actually based on her own love of babies. "I had always wanted grandchildren," she explains, the story beginning some years ago. "My friends were having grandchildren, and when the discussion got to me, I did not have any. My son was in his thirties and only had dogs. He was an only child -- now I tell folks to have at least two to ensure they have grandchildren! When we talked about our grandchildren I told everyone that I had grandpuppies. It got to be such a joke, but I wanted grandchildren so bad and felt I was really out of luck. Lo and behold now I have two grandchildren. When my daughter-in-law had her baby shower, I could not be there; she lives in Florida, and I live in Georgia. I wanted to send her a baby shower gift, so I searched the web to see what was available. I decided baby shower gift baskets would be a great gift for family and friends that are not able to attend in person."

Seeing the need, Carla set about beginning her own store, basing it on practical principles. "You always know well in advance of a baby shower. I can order the gift and have it sent to my home and have my gift ready for the baby shower without going all over town searching for the perfect gift," she says, illustrating the convenience of having a store set up to match this market.

Every item is chosen with the customer in mind, and Carla keeps a close eye on what her shoppers want. "I love the items," she admits, having stocked her store with a large variety of products. "I have only selected items that I would buy and feel others would enjoy. I want to make it easy to shop for babies if you want a gift basket. I shopped around to ensure I found fun quality products -- something I would love to buy."

Carla's customers are able to communicate with her via her new blog at, which also contains product and sale announcements and discussions about baby showers. "My goal is for marketing, getting ideas, and especially feedback on how customers liked the gift baskets," says Carla. "I hope to get testimonials from my customers that can be posted to my web site."
