Corpus Christi, TX (PRWEB) February 26, 2008 -- When the folks behind one of the newest online dog stores, Lucy's Dog House (http://www.lucysdoghouse.net), adopted their first Great Dane from a rescue shelter, they had no idea it would spawn a new business. Now, thanks to a Great Dane named Lucy and a man by the name of Hans Lynch, lonely Great Danes are one step closer to a loving home.

On the surface Lucy's Dog House looks just like any other Web site selling dog products, but it's what happens after a customer completes a purchase that makes the site so unique. Once a month, Lucy's Dog House donates anywhere from 5% to 15% of their gross sales to a Great Dane rescue. A normal sale automatically has 5% of the total donated and if a customer uses the coupon code "rescue", 15% of the sale is donated to that month's rescue of choice.

"In total we donate to six different rescues," said owner Hans Lynch. "We rotate the donations on a monthly basis. In fact, we donated more than $1,500 last year and we're hoping to double that amount this year. As the business grows, we intend to increase the number of rescues we sponsor."

So why did the company decide to donate to Great Dane rescues as opposed to another type? Well that's all thanks to Lucy, Lynch's Great Dane, for whom the business was named after.

"Lucy was adopted from the Indian Dane Rescue center in San Diego," said Lynch. "After adopting her, Great Danes became my favorite breed of dog. Anyone who's owned a Great Dane knows why and anyone who hasn't, well, ten minutes with Lucy and she'll win you over."

2008 is already shaping up to be an impressive year for Lucy's Dog House. With one of the best months on record (January) and the launch of a new affiliate program, Lucy's is proving that some companies can be profitable, while still give back to their community.

"Every little bit helps," said Lynch. "Lucy's is a dream come true. Not only because it's the start of my own business, but because it has provided me with the means to help rescue shelters in a way that I never could have in the past."
