Brussels, BR (PRWEB) February 27, 2008 -- Music Crossroads - Africa's largest youth-music program - is on the verge of launching its first official website. The site, that will go live today (Monday 25th February 2008), will definitely surprise audiences with the wealth of Southern African musical talent pouring from over 10 years of musical empowerment in Southern Africa.

The Music Crossroads website is packed full of information, enabling anybody to get involved:

  • Participants can register for festivals, competitions and training programs
  • Fans can find info on bands, tours, news and events
  • Music lovers can sample the undiscovered music scenes of Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
  • Supporters wanting to contribute can become active volunteers or make a donation to Southern African music.
  • Those looking for an unique African music festival experience can get all the latest information on the upcoming Music Crossroads IRF (7th-10th August 2008 in Lilongwe, Malawi)

The Music Crossroads Artist Listing gives an online voice to many artists who lack the resources to promote themselves online. Now even smallest Malawian groups can be seen on similar platforms as e.g. Madonna and other mainstream artists.

The site features a unique line-up of great Music Crossroads acts including: Konga Vibes (MAL), Nyacha (MOZ), Liyana (ZIM), the OYA Theatre Group (TZ), Kapa Dech (MOZ), Bongo Love (ZIM), Afrikali (TZ), Nfithe (MOZ) and this year's InterRegional Festival (IRF) winners Body Mind & Soul (MAL) who are preparing for their greatly anticipated 2008 European tour.

Music Crossroads is a program of Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), the world's largest youth-music network. Locally the program is implemented in partnership independent NGO's established in the five Music Crossroads countries, with a focus on youth empowerment, music professional training, HIV/AIDS prevention & building sustainable regional/ national structures in Southern Africa.
