If the website SupportMyMillion.com can generate $1,000,000 in donations by December 24th, 2008, people passing through Times Square, New York City will get a pleasant surprise: free money. A total of $100,000 will be deducted from the donations to allow a little bit of happiness for people in the area. The person that will be passing the money out will be the founder of the website, a model named Muri Y.
The rest of the money will go into Muri's pockets, fulfilling his dream to become a millionaire. In fact, that's Muri's main purpose in creating SupportMyMillion.com. After pondering which type of Internet businesses would bring the most prosperity, Muri came up with an idea that even he thought was crazy… ask one million people to donate a dollar for his cause.
"One dollar will symbolize to all those idea building business cracks in the world, that the Internet community is strong enough to make at least one of its members a millionaire within one year: me!" Notes Muri as to the power that even a dollar has.
But things go even further as sponsors get advertising in exchange for their money. For just $1 sponsors can display a text message of up to 80 characters on the sites of Muri's supporters.
As far as specific stats, SupportMyMillion.com officially launched in December 13, 2007, giving it a lifespan of two and a half months. In just that short period of time, the website has received $5,001 in donations. The site has 10 more months to meet the founder's ultimate goal of $1,000,000.
All of the monies donated to SupportMyMillion.com will not be touched until December 13th, 2008. On this date Muri will transfer the funds to a private US bank account. He will then publish the balance on a press release to let the world know if he achieved his objective. If he has he will proceed with his secondary goal: giving back to the public by passing out $100,000.
