We found a great partner in P&TLuxembourg and TERALINK to extend our network to Luxembourg and offer our corporate customers high-bandwidth connections for data, Internet and storage applications
(PRWEB) February 28, 2008
The joint efforts of P&TLuxembourg, Datacenter Luxembourg and Inexio have achieved to develop this new connectivity platform that will distinguish Luxembourg as a unique and secure place for ICT companies, operators and e-commerce clients by establishing Luxemburg as a major European exchange point with large and reliable international connections.
This redundant fiber-ring provides Luxembourg with a cutting edge Internet network giving the country the unique possibility to attract also bandwidth intense customers in the future.
Inexio has been building a next generation optical Ethernet backbone with a capacity of up to 3.200 Gbit/s, about 1,6 million DSL subscriber lines in southwestern Germany, connecting Frankfurt, Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken, Saarlouis, Merzig and Perl. "We found a great partner in P&TLuxembourg and TERALINK to extend our network to Luxembourg and offer our corporate customers high-bandwidth connections for data, Internet and storage applications", says Inexio Founder and CEO David A. Zimmer.
The benefits for Datacenter Luxembourg are significant. It will allow them to attract even more international e-commerces, as well as drive their entrance into the favorable markets of IPTV and Streaming. Marco Houwen, Managing Director of Datacenter Luxembourg explains, "This project is giving us the possibility to negotiate with prospects on the same level the way our competitors are doing it in Frankfurt, Paris or London, with the advantage of being in the foremost interesting e-commerce hub in Europe".
TERALINK allows corporate customers as well as ICT and XSP firms to benefit from high international bandwidth connections to expand their own business activities which exactly reflects the spirit of TERALINK. Jean-Marie Spaus, Director of the Telecommunication Division of P&TLuxembourg, considers this cooperation "as a major step to speed up the place of Luxembourg as a key e-business platform in Europe".
About Datacenter Luxembourg
Datacenter Luxembourg's services comprise among others a large carrier independent
Datacenter Infrastructure, International Internet & Telco Connectivity, Managed e-Commerce and Housing Services.
Datacenter Luxembourg is providing these datacenter services out of distinct geographical facilities connected to a looped backbone. Added to that are quality bandwidth and IP through its own international looped backbone as well as through third party backbones.
As a next step, the server virtualisation and scalable storage is coming up. It is a real added value service that will provide businesses with more flexibility, stability and economies of scale.
Furthermore, Datacenter Luxembourg is also able to connect your national offices with a scalable guaranteed bandwidth including QoS.

Inexio Informationstechnologie und Telekommunikation KGaA, a privately held company of the Zimmer group, was founded in April 2006 and is headquartered in Merzig/Saar, Germany.
Inexio was founded on the vision that modern Ethernet and MPLS based networks will replace the legacy, SDH/SONET based networks, of the established carriers and that the future will rely on IP and Internet based services. Following this idea, Inexio has built in 2007 a pan-European network as well as several datacenter facilities. A future extension, which will cover eastern France is also currently in the planning stage and the complete network will be ready for service in early May 2008. Based on this infrastructure, inexio possesses all necessary means to offer fast, high-quality and inexpensive telecommunications, and network based IT services in the greater region "Luxembourg-France-Germany".
Inexio delivers individual, tailored and future-proof, national and international, network- and IT services for small and medium companies as well as for large enterprises and carriers. Well-known enterprises like Villeroy & Boch, Datacenter Luxembourg, PharmLog, PlusCard or MLP rely on inexio's performance and expertise.

TERALINK connects P&TLuxembourg's national fiber network to the most renowned European telecommunication centers, ensuring the company can meet demands for IP-connectivity, housing, hosting and other bandwidth-intensive applications. Spanning more than 4,000 km and including 13 Points of Presence (PoP) in 6 EU countries, TERALINK connects Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Paris and Strasbourg with Luxembourg. Each city is connected by redundant fiber routes provided by different suppliers thus guaranteeing full supplier redundancy. Relying on state-of-the-art DWDM (Dense Wave Division Multiplexing) technology with ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers) equipment, TERALINK offers a capacity up to 88 x 40Gbit/s (3,5 Terabit/s). P&TLuxembourg is one of the first carriers in Europe implementing a network of this size with this newest technology.
With its national Metro-Ethernet Backbone, P&TLuxembourg provides to its customers a multiple site Ethernet network. The access to this MEB network is based on optical fibers for bandwidths above 10 Mbit/s and SDSL/copper technology for bandwidths below 10 Mbit/s.
P&TLuxembourg has deployed its D-line service which is a fully managed high speed data transmission service between 2 sites. This service is being used to interconnect Local Area Networks (LAN) or Storage Area Networks (SAN) and is based on dedicated optical fibers. This service can be redundant or not. Therefore, P&TLuxembourg offers to its customers 4 different configurations allowing up to 100% redundancy.
