(PRWEB) March 4, 2008 -- International Vacation Home Exchange (www.IVHE.com) are delighted to have formed a partnership with Mercy Corps, the international relief and development charity (www.mercycorps.com) and will donate 5% of every joining fee received to this valuable charity. Mercy Corps helps more than 14.4 million people each year in over 35 countries recover from disasters, build stronger communities and help to find solutions to ongoing poverty. They are constantly in the forefront of responses to global disasters such as the Indian Ocean tsunami, conflict in the Middle East, Hurricane Katrina, ethnic conflict in the Balkans and famine and drought in Africa.
Working innovatively and with commitment Mercy Corps' policy of engaging with local communities has proved a winning formula for achieving results. In the aftermath of the recent devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake that hit coastal Peru mid August last year, Mercy Corps have been working with local partners to provide emergency shelter for occupants of two villages near the epicenter of the earthquake whose homes were destroyed. This disaster left more than 100,000 people homeless.
Suzie Magnus, Managing Director of IVHE says "This charity partnership with Mercy Corps is an exciting development for IVHE. We are keen to provide our members with top quality accommodation while remaining socially conscious and are proud to be one of the first vacation rental and home exchange organisations to pledge a regular charity donation."
Mervyn Lee, Executive Director at Mercy Corps said, "We are delighted to have been chosen as charity partner for IVHE and we are sure that this will be a long and very successful relationship. The money raised through donations will help Mercy Corps to fund innovative ways of implementing disaster relief and working with communities in some of the neediest countries in the world, to put people back on their feet and in charge of their own lives."
