Victim's Family Files Lawsuit against Florida Psychologist Arrested for Patient's OxyContin Death

David Durkee and the victim's family will announce during a news conference today the filing of a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Florida psychologist Adam Feder, arrested days ago and facing charges of manslaughter and trafficking in controlled substances in connection with the death of his former patient and girlfriend. David Durkee, partner with the Florida law firm of Roberts & Durkee, today announced his filing of a wrongful death and negligence lawsuit against Adam Feder (case # 08-11250 CA 15 Miami-Dade Circuit Court), the 40-year-old Pembroke Pines psychologist arrested days ago in connection with the death of his former patient and girlfriend. Feder faces criminal charges of manslaughter and trafficking in controlled substances. Durkee and the victim's family have scheduled a news conference at 10 a.m. Monday, March 3, at the offices of Roberts & Durkee, Alhambra Towers, Penthouse I, 121 Alhambra Plaza, Suite 1603, Coral Gables, FL.

The suit filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court alleges Feder and his former employer, Compass Health Systems (CHS), are responsible for the death of former patient Rachel Finzi. When Finzi was 18 years old, her parents brought her to CHS in North Miami for treatment of her depression and other psychological issues. When she came under Feder's care, he gave her marijuana and illegal prescription medications and proceeded to engage in sexual relations with her. In 2006, Finzi, who was then 20, was found dead at Feder's North Miami-Dade apartment. The lawsuit against CHS and Feder seeks recovery for Finzi's medical expenses as well as the pain and suffering of Rachel's parents, Richard and Esther Finzi.
