ComVu deploys "Livecast" as its new portal name to clearly communicate its consumer service and company vision for DIY live broadcasting, anywhere, anytime.

ComVu Media, Inc., the leading provider of live video streaming right from your phone, today announced that it will use "Livecast®" to brand its upcoming Microsoft Silverlight-based consumer video portal that was previewed today at Microsoft MIX08 conference in Las Vegas.

The upcoming beta release of the Livecast.com portal is designed as an interactive live video and mapping "mash-up" that displays each mobile livecaster's location as a colored pinpoint on a map. Viewers simply roll-over the pinpoint to preview video information and click to launch the corresponding live stream. With an expected launch date of mid-April '08, the Silverlight-based site will offer customers an easy and convenient way to share entertainment, breaking news, amateur sporting activities and memorable events with family, friends and fans.

"'Livecast' provides a descriptive and consumer-friendly brand to support the launch of the next generation of our services, which along with our expansive mobile OS support, further solidifies our leadership position in the user-generated live event space," said William Mutual, ComVu's CEO. "Utilization of Silverlight technologies in our livecasting services means we can deliver an innovative Web 2.0 experience, while maintaining the efficiencies of an optimized streaming media delivery network."

"We're excited to support one of our Microsoft Startup Accelerator Program members in the significant next step in its go-to-market strategy, which includes a variety of core Microsoft technologies such as Silverlight, Virtual Earth, Windows Media and Windows Mobile," said Cliff Reeves, general manager of the Emerging Business Team at Microsoft Corp. "The market is primed and ready for an explosion in mobile user-generated content, personal video communications and location-based services, so we believe that ComVu is right on target by taking the lead in enabling livecasting from a wide variety of mobile phones and incorporating mapping of GPS locations in its Silverlight-based portal."
