Jump on Your Skis and Search the Mountain as New Belgium Brewing Hosts Its Annual Taos Scavenger Hunt

A Day of Downhill and Clue-Finding Raises Money for Charity: New Belgium, makers of Fat Tire Amber Ale and other Belgian-inspired beers, is once again bringing the clues and frosty brews to Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico for the 2nd Annual New Belgium Scavenger Hunt on March 15.

Ft. Collins, CO (PRWEB) March 6, 2008 -- While the wild and wacky ways of Tour de Fat, New Belgium Brewing's sustainable cycling circus, takes a rest during the winter months, New Belgium is asking people to bring out their costumes again and join them at Taos Ski Valley. New Belgium, makers of Fat Tire Amber Ale and other Belgian-inspired beers, is once again bringing the clues and frosty brews to Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico for the 2nd Annual New Belgium Scavenger Hunt on March 15.

"We don't like to make it easy, so there will be clues throughout the ski resort from the toughest terrain to the more simple slopes," said Mike Keller, New Belgium Brewing's Event Coordinator. "If you think you have what it takes and are looking for a new downhill challenge, this is an event you won't want to miss."

During the scavenger hunt, people will have to search for both stationary clues as well as moving targets. There's a good chance that you might come across Bigfoot, a crazy chicken and one lost monk cruising around the slopes. The day will begin with a 9:00 a.m. sign up and a 10:00 a.m. start time. To enter the hunt, participants will have to pay $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps. Contestants will create their own teams to collect the point-based clues and the team with the most points at 3:00 p.m. will be crowned the Taos Scavenger Hunt winner.

"This is such an awesome event that we look forward to every year," said Sarah New, Assistant Events Coordinator at Taos Ski Valley. "You do have to pay attention though - not just for the clues, but for a possible wig or two that may come loose; it's definitely an event where costumes are encouraged."

After a day of skiing and scavenging, New Belgium will host a dance party and awards ceremony with the top three teams receiving prizes. There will also be giveaways, including a New Belgium custom bike and drink specials.
