CEA Expands GlobalCampus Network Reach to Paris

Leading study abroad organization celebrates the inauguration of its innovative study abroad model in France's bustling capital city.

Tempe, AZ (PRWEB) March 7, 2008 -- CEA, the leading global marketplace for quality study abroad programs for university and college students in the U.S. and Canada, today announced the formal inauguration of the newly renovated CEA GlobalCampus Network site in Paris. Located in the heart of the Marais Quarter, this three-story, signature learning facility is designed to bridge education with emerging technology, providing study abroad students unique, experiential learning opportunities.

CEA GlobalCampus: Paris utilizes innovative curriculum that focuses on current European and international issues, while encouraging dialogue and critical thought among students. Through active participation, including field observation, tours and lectures, students gain insight into how France fits into the larger European context and they learn the necessary tools to address global issues.

While Paris is widely renowned for its rich history, architecture and cuisine, France's capital city is emerging as an increasingly prominent player in the global economy
"While Paris is widely renowned for its rich history, architecture and cuisine, France's capital city is emerging as an increasingly prominent player in the global economy," says Dr. Geoffrey Bannister, CEA president and chief academic officer. "CEA GlobalCampus: Paris has been thoughtfully designed to foster a remarkable learning experience where students garner a solid understanding of the city from a historical context, as well as ascertain its significance within the context of today's global issues. We hand-picked the location, the facility, the technology and the classroom resources to optimize students' learning potential and cultivate a deeper level of international competency."

CEA GlobalCampus: Paris courses are designed to expose students to the history, politics, culture, media and the art of the region, comparing that to the international landscape. Students may select from the following programs and course offerings:

--International Business
Courses: Strategies in Global Leadership, Green Collar Business, and E-Commerce: Europe & the Global Market
--Foundations in Studio Arts
Courses: Haute Couture in France: History of Style and Fashion, and Introduction to Photography and Introduction to Drawing
--Liberal Arts & Social Sciences
Courses: Anthropology of Food, War and Terrorism in the New World Order, and Urban Social Photography
--French Language & Liberal Arts
Courses: French Language, Intermediate French Conversation, and 20th Century Art: A History of Modernism

As part of an exclusive network, students have unfettered access to CEA GlobalCampus libraries and learning resources, as well as leaders of local businesses and organizations, such as Boeing, Airbus, Amnesty International and UNESCO.

Courses taught at the CEA GlobalCampus center in Paris have been designed in conjunction with the University of New Haven (UNH) in West Haven, Connecticut. After the successful completion of a study abroad program, students receive credit for their work from UNH, making credits easily transferable to U.S.-accredited institutions.

In addition to CEA's proprietary courses offered directly to students through the GlobalCampus Network, CEA has built the Paris facility as a resource for other higher education institutions to host their own study abroad programs in a state-of-the-art facility, such as faculty-led trips.

CEA GlobalCampus: Paris serves as the GlobalCampus Network flagship site, accompanied by centers in Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Florence and Rome. Additional GlobalCampus Network sites are expected to launch in the next year.
